User Research: Conducted user interviews to understand user behaviors and user flow
Wireframes: Designed, elaborated and iterated on the wireframes
IIP addresses all data (such as structured, unstructured, documents, spreadsheets, blogs, portal content, logs, etc.), enabling enterprises to build meaningful correlations across diverse data sets. Previous user experience of IIP is not user friendly in terms of navigation, efficiency, and accessibility. Having difficulties finding what they want is the biggest pain point of users.
We talked to the engineers who were working on IIP, understanding the main features of IIP and found out that the highlight of this software is its integration. Due to bad user experience, these great features are not fully well-acknowledged by users.

Research
To understand this domain, we did some research and learned many terminologies. These made us know the languages of the data scientists, which help us communicate with them.
Interviews
For the first round of interview, we interviewed 11 data scientists. Through the interviews, we understand their work flow and their "loves & hates" about IIP previous interface.
