As in other countries all over the world, China is facing a serious ageing population. The 33 millions disabled elders challenges China pension insurance system.
In modern life, better mobility leads to better life.
To improve the elderly’s well-being, mobility is a key issue.
Aging, health and mobility in China
RESEARCH
We researched on the elderly’s life in Hangzhou, China for more than one month,
reported the results to our Dutch teammates, and discussed about our design points together.

As human beings are members of nature, we move around, communicate emotionally and transmit our love to the next generation. Mobility is not only the energy, but also the transmission of emotion.
MOBILITY IN OUR EYES -- Learn from NATURE MOBILITY
PERSONA
Granny Liu is 74 year old. She lives with her 79-year-old husband. They live a very simple life. Everyday they do housework, grocery shopping, drop around and chat with each other.
Granny Liu struggles with walking due to the legache. She has to walk with a crutch and rarely walk outside alone since she is afraid of falling over especially in the rainy or snowy days.
Their son lives very far away and he is very busy, so he would rarely come. Grannny Liu are very proud of her granddaughters and missed them so much.

FINAL CONCEPT
A flower-shaped chair with a chess board. To play this game, the elderly move the piece by moving their body back, forth, left and right. It involves two main players, and others could give suggestions. They all sit around in the flower-shaped chair.
